Athletes honored for academics

Four students from Fulton County were among 143 Heidelberg University student-athletes in Tiffin honored earlier this semester for their achievements in the classroom.

Among the students receiving a Landess Scholar-Athlete Award were: Dominic Frey, Wauseon, men’s cross country and a sophomore Business Administration and Integrated Media major; Nicholas Jones, Delta, men’s cross country and a sophomore Criminal Justice and Psychology major; Justin Mourguet, Wauseon, men’s cross country and a junior Economics and Computer Science major; and Tiffany Bates, Fayette, women’s golf and a junior Health Sciences major.

The Landess Awards were created by William Landess, a 1995 Heidelberg alumnus and member of the university’s Board of Trustees, to honor student-athletes who achieve a minimum 3.0 grade point average during their semester of competition.
