Fulton County GOP announces endorsements

Following an early February meeting, the Fulton County Republican Central Committee has announced its endorsements for the March 15 primary.

In Fulton County, Jon Rupp was endorsed for county commissioner. The longtime township trustee is running against Gary Loar of Metamora.

Tracy Zuver was endorsed for clerk of courts. Zuver is running against incumbent Paul MacDonald.

In the 47th house district race, the committee endorsed Derek Merrin.

Also, John Weber was endorsed for Fulton Township Republican Commiteeman. Dee Talmage and Mark Wagoner were endorsed for State Central Committee in the 2nd Senate District and Cheryl Buckland was endorsed in the 1st Senate District.

Candidates had to have a 2/3 majority vote of members before an endorsement was granted, according to Sandra Barber, chair of the Fulton County Republican Committee.

She also stated that groups calling themselves “Republican PACs” have circulated endorsements in numerous Northwest Ohio counties. The endorsements are claimed by some candidates for State Central Committee positions.

“These groups have no connection with the county party and we are not aware of any local members,” she said.
