Adult programs planned at SPL

The Swanton Public Library will offer multiple programs for adults this December.

Hand Painted Ornaments

Artist Cindy Aschliman will lead a class through the process of painting glass Christmas ornaments. These can be personalized, making them great for gifts. Paint one or several; the fee is $10 per ornament. No previous painting experience necessary – just bring a friend and have some fun.

The class will be Wednesday, Dec. 2 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Registration required. Stop by the library, register online at www.swantonpubliclibrary.org/node/240 or by phone at 419-826-2760.

Yoga Classes

The yoga classes have been quite popular under the guidance of instructor Aimee Strohbeck. During December, Strohbeck will continue with her Thursday morning yoga class, Intro to Yoga, as well as her Monday morning class, Beginning Yoga.

Intro to Yoga will be held Thursday mornings, Dec. 3, 10, and 17 from 10:15-11:30 a.m. There will be no yoga on Dec. 24 or 31 as the library will be closed. Class fee is by donation, with benefits going to the library. Students are asked to bring a yoga mat and towel and to wear comfortable clothing.

Beginning Yoga will be held Monday mornings, Dec. 7, 14, 21 and 28 from 10:15-11:30. These sessions will be slightly more advanced than those on Thursday, providing students with an opportunity to expand their skill level. Class fee is $10 per session with multi-session tickets available. Students are asked to bring a yoga mat and towel and to wear comfortable clothing.

Chess at SPL

The enthusiastic chess group, led by Joe Mossa, meets at the library Wednesday evenings from 6-8 p.m. as well as Tuesday afternoons at 3. Players of all skill levels are welcome.

Free Knitting Instruction Offered

Knitters of all skill levels are invited to meet with instructor Kathy Queen at the library to learn new techniques and just have a good time knitting together. The daytime knitters will meet Mondays, Dec. 7 and 21 from 1:30-3 p.m. The evening group will meet Wednesdays, Dec. 9 and 23 from 6:30-8:00 p.m.

All skill levels are welcome to attend this free class – crocheters are welcome too. Beginners please bring a pair of knitting needles, size 8 to 15.
