The Wauseon Farmers’ Market is planning to host the second Salsa Challenge, on Saturday, Oct. 10. This will coincide with the last farmers’ market for 2015. All one quart entries for the Salsa Challenge need to be submitted at 9 a.m. The salsa tasting will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude at noon. All of this is brought to the public by the Wauseon Downtown Association.
Market guests will receive tokens to be used as ballots to vote for their favorite salsa. Donations for the tokens will be $1, with proceeds to be forwarded to the F.I.S.H. Services. Also, visitors are encouraged to bring canned goods and non perishables to be donated to the food pantry.
The Market welcomes salsa professionals (local restaurants) as well as amateur entries. All salsa’s will be identified by a number for blind judging. Plaques will be awarded to the winning salsas: People’s Choice and Judges Choice. Also salsa categories will include: Hot, Mild, Sweet and Original.
Tasters who pay $1 will be treated to a one ounce sample with chips. Extra chips are free to avoid double-dipping.
