The Wauseon Downtown Association has named Ivan and Maxine Hite as the grand marshals of the 2017 Christmas Parade on Saturday, Nov. 25.
The Hites will ride in a horse-drawn carriage in the parade.
They are both graduates of Swanton High School, and married in 1966. They have three children, Kevin and twins Melanie and Marlo. They also have 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Ivan has been a barber for 51 years, and has a shop in downtown Wauseon. He also had a partnership in a hair replacement business in Toledo, and sat on an advisory board for the Institute for Healthcare Improvement for hair replacement.
He served six years on Wauseon City Council, and was recently re-elected as a Clinton Township trustee, where he has served 12 years. He is a past president of the Wauseon Kiwanis Club, has been on advisory boards for both Wauseon and Fulton County, and has been involved with real estate properties.
Ivan’s hobbies include reading, studying history, and collecting sports memorabilia.
Maxine was a bus driver for Wauseon schools for 1 ½ years, and served 12 years at Wauseon High School as receptionist. She has been an interior decorator for 30 years, with 25 years for Grieser Interiors at the Delta, Archbold store, and now at Wauseon.
She was past president of the Twins Club. She enjoys reading, shopping, interior decorating, and spending tmie with family.
This year’s parade will begin at 7 p.m. The route will begin at South Park, travel down Fulton Street, and end at Depot Park with Santa Claus and refreshments.
Entries are needed for Prince of the Parade; the princess position has been filled. Boys in grades K-3 are eligible.
