Jim and Dee Spiess are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Dee Vollmer wed James Spiess on Aug. 14, 1965 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wauseon. The candlelit ceremony was officiated by Rev. James R. Fox.
Jim and Dee were Delta High School sweethearts and both graduates of The Ohio State University. Both are retired educators.
They began their teaching careers in Delaware, Ohio. Jim was a vocational agricultural instructor and Dee was an elementary school teacher. After three years, the couple moved to Wauseon where Jim taught agriculture and was a FFA advisor for 35 years in Wauseon High School. Dee was a reading teacher in the Delta school system.
They are proud parents of three children: Aaron and Dr. Amy Spiess of Bexley, Ohio; Drs Adam and Catherine Spiess of New Albany, Ohio and Allison Spiess, who lives in German Village area of Columbus, Ohio.
The couple is further blessed with four loving grandchildren: Logan, Madison, Jonathan and Sophia.
A celebration brunch is being hosted by their children in Columbus.
